Our bus detoured through the town of Karacasu to let us stop at the farmers' market.

We were the only tourists in sight.

A vast bounty of fresh fruit and vegetables beckoned from one street. Another alley featured soap, blue jeans and designer jackets.

I was caught several times staring with delight at the cherries, green onions, okra, peaches, strawberries and watermelon.

Down one row, a Turkish woman dragging her produce in a cart behind her did the two-step with Angie as each tried to pass the other.

When they finally figured it out, the woman smiled and gave Angie a "Danke schön" as she passed.

Roosters and chickens strutted about everywhere, some sleeping in the shade beneath the tables.
